Tina Wu | Summer Intern
Now that it’s officially July, that means summer is really speeding by. If you’re finding yourself already wishing you’d done more with your summer, fret not! FoodieTrip is here to both remind you that there is still time and provide you with some awesome ideas for your next excursion!
Coney Island
A summer classic! Coney Island has everything you could wish for in a perfect summer day: a beach, an amusement park, a boardwalk, amazing food and drink - only thing missing is you and a group of your closest friends. The Coney Island Amusement Park is known for its rickety roller coasters and amazing views of unending sand and water, but it’s also full of fun candy shops, arcades, and incredible photo opportunities! What are you waiting for? Pick a day, pick some friends, grab some sunscreen and a swimsuit, and be on your way!
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Met is the perfect place for the sophisticated traveler year round, but if you’re looking for a place to cool down from the relentless sun this summer, then the Met is perfect for you. With access to the roof and a room to sit and soak up the sun through ceiling-high windows, the Met provides yet another potential summer destination and photo opportunities. If you’re also looking for a low-budget option - even better! The Met is pay-what-you-want, with a suggested ticket price, so you can save those big bills for food later on. Enjoy some air-conditioned art on a hot, summer day without sacrificing some sunshine! Be sure to check out The Body Politic while you’re at it! Photo credit: @finnharries
The High Line
The High Line is a must-see during the summer. With beautiful greenery that is rare in NYC’s concrete jungle, the High Line offers a glimpse of the city that is relatively unseen. There are food carts (including popsicle carts!) along the walk for your cooling down convenience, and plenty of spots to take a seat if you’re feeling tired. It’s also a great place to bring a date, with insta-worthy moments around every corner! Starting near Penn Station and ending in the Meatpacking District, the High Line is an unmissable part of summertime. If you’re hungry once you finish , let us help you out!
Central Park
Nothing says summer like a picnic in Central Park! A good place for dates, friends, or family, Central Park is more beautiful than ever during the summer. There are a ton of things to do in Central Park, from biking around to simply taking a stroll. Stop by the Great Lawn, or try your luck getting tickets to Shakespeare in the Park when you get a chance! Need a day for yourself? Central Park is perfect for you - grab a book, find a bench, and enjoy the amazing weather and adorable dogs of the park for an afternoon.
Now that you have this list, you are fully prepared to make this summer one you won’t forget. Don’t make excuses and get yourself out there!
